Yom Kippur services, as expected, were extremely insightful and spiritual (albeit very long). Fast went relatively smoothly. We stayed at the premises, napping in the car.
Not sure if I mentioned how this is truly coming full circle at our "home away from home" synagogue (we've been visiting here for the last 15ish years, since Jessica moved here). Our very first High Holidays when we started our RV journey was here (we parked our RV in the parking lot as they use a large banquet hall for these services). And our very first High Holidays in this new chapter is here. Whenever we came to visit, we always said that it was our hope that someday, maybe when we retire, we wanted to settle down in his community. We didn't think that day would come so soon (or maybe it wasn't really that soon; just seems that way since time flies).
Today is the first day of Sukkot, and as mentioned in my previous post, it is very sad that this is the first time in 25+ years that we won't have the ability to build our own sukkah. Mitch tried to volunteer on Sunday to help build the community one. He went to the rabbi's house (the shul is located in a storefront, and there is nowhere to build it there). He didn't see many cars out front and didn't bother to ring the doorbell or walk around the house to the back; he just assumed noone was there and left. Oh well. At least he tried.
So our first inconvenience... movers did NOT come on Sunday or Monday. Allegedly, the truck broke down on Saturday while en route. Since no truck repair facilities were open over the weekend, nothing could be done. I'm still waiting to hear back as to what the problem is, how long it will take to repair, and when they'll be on the way again. I really want my stuff; especially my pots & pans and my bathing suit, and Mitch needs his tools.
Speaking of bathing suit, we wandered down by the pool on Saturday. It was so delicious, that I decided to be spontaneous and go for a swim while in my shorts & t-shirt (no one else was there). Here is only 1 angle of the pool and surrounding deck. The pool is actually much larger than the photo makes it appear (there are actually lots of other really nice seating areas and hanging chairs. And it seems everywhere you go in the clubhouse has a tv and fire pit). It has been great swimming weather and I do hope I can get to enjoy it, wearing a bathing suit! (no, I don't want to buy one now, as I have enough and don't need another one once my own clothes get here).
