A nice little hike

It was a lovely fall day (mid 70s) and clear skies.  Originally Mitch was planning to spend the day working on the computer server, but I guess he was feeling lazy and wanted to just get out of the apartment (can't blame him).  I had actually been spending the week trying to find something fun I could do on my own, but nothing really appealed to me.  Pretty much all the events in the area are Halloween related and I didn't feel like schlepping into downtown Raleigh to a museum.  Turned out my sister gave me a bit of homework to do in advance of our cruise in December, so I was going to be on the computer for a few hours; possibly just sitting on the balcony.

But around noon, Mitch was getting a bit itchy, so we tried to find something.  I found a park with a lake (for fishing & boating, where they rent pedal boats, canoes & kayaks) and have walking/biking trails as well as hiking trails (plus lots of picnic areas and open sports fields).  It's like a miniature state park nestled between strip malls and apartment complexes (for those visiting Cary, it's called Bond Lake, or Fred G. Bond Park).

So we walked around the lake and even took one of the little trails thru the woods.  It was nice exercise in a very scenic place.

Here are some photos of the ducks (only 1 actually, although there were lots of them) and the lake (and us).  There was actually much more to the lake but we didn't get enough photos.
